I've been watching the cultural landscape of my home country, South Africa, and I've noticed something, a subtle, yet pervasive shift. A kind of 'man-drought' has set in, not just in terms of numbers, but in terms of quality. Men who are emotionally available, financially responsible, and psychologically mature seem to be a rare and endangered species. And the women, They're left to navigate a dating scene that feels more like a desert than a fertile field.
The Mirage of Modern Masculinity
We're sold a mirage of modern masculinity that's all about bravado and swagger, but very little substance. It's a culture of 'talking a big game' without ever stepping onto the field. Men who are more concerned with their online persona than their real-life character. And it's left a lot of women feeling abandoned, resentful, and utterly exhausted.
The real drought isn’t a lack of men. It’s a lack of men willing to do the hard work of becoming.
