Introduction: Some People Become Part of Your Voice
There are people who pass through your life quietly. And then there are people who leave fingerprints on your personality. People who shape how you speak, how you laugh, how you defend yourself, how you stand.
Kitso “Kazner” Mohobela was one of those people for me. Even now, saying his name pulls up an entire atmosphere. Blyvoor Gold Mine streets. Dust in the air. Familiar corners. That small circle of people always around him, always laughing.
The First Comedian I Ever Saw
Before stand up comedy had stages. Before battle rap had crowds. Before social media had comment sections. I had Kazner. He was the first stand up comedian I ever saw in real life. No microphone. No spotlight. Just timing, intelligence and fearlessness.
He taught me how to make fun of almost anything without being offensive. That is a rare craft. It requires emotional intelligence, not just wit.
Faith Worn With Pride
One of the things that stood out most about Kazner was his faith. He wore it openly. Proudly. Without apology. He was under the congregation of Prophet Bushiri, and many of us mocked him for it. But he was never easy to verbally shoot down. He stood firm in what he believed. Calm. Unshaken.
Conclusion: The Man Beyond the Laughter
We will remember your laughter. We will remember your debates. We will remember your faith. We will remember your presence. You were not just funny. You were formative. Rest well, Kitso “Kazner” Mohobela.
